Volunteers needed for Sharp Creek Elementary Open House

SoHills and Sharp Creek Elementary will team up again for another awesome open house for SCE students and parents. Let's help the students start the year off well! We will be providing school supplies, ice cream sundaes, food, and inflatables. Join in by buying school supplies, serving at the event, and praying for another great year of partnership with Sharp Creek.

Community News: Bible Quiz Bowl

We are looking for 5 individuals who are knowledgeable in the Bible. 

Fourteen churches in West Georgia are participating in the Bible Quiz Bowl as part of the Get Healthy, Live Well Tanner Coalition. and we're ready to take them on! The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 15 from 10 AM - 2 PM at the Dr. Tracy P. Stallings Community Center.

Community News: Spanish Camp

Que Pasa’s Spanish Camp teaches kids conversational Spanish through games, activities, and crafts. 
For 5 to 14-year-olds,  July 10 through July 14 from 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM at the Burson Center.
Register before July 10 for $100.

Meals for Students This Summer

Carroll County Schools will be providing free meals for children 18 and younger throughout the summer break. Meals will be offered at three locations only: Villa Rica High, Central High, and Bowdon High.

  • Breakfast 6:30-9:30
  • Lunch 10:30-12:30

Dates for meals are June 1 through July 21, excluding July 4th week.

No signup or registration required.  Simply show up at one of the three locations during breakfast and lunch meal times and eat there in the cafeteria.

Missional Trip to Panama City Beach

Take a trip to Panama City Beach to support Campus Outreach’s Summer Beach Project by preparing and serving 3 dinners for 120 people (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday evening).
 
A week of your choosing between May 22 and July 21
They will provide the funds to purchase the meals and have recipe ideas available
Lodging provided at retreat center (think summer camp style)
Volunteers are welcome to spend time with the college students and attend their discipleship training and enjoy the beach!

THS Emergency Shelter: HopeFirst Project

The Holy Spirit Shelter is looking for small apartments or homes for individuals transitioning out of homelessness or from very poor living situations. Many folks have guaranteed monthly incomes and need housing options around $500/mo. or less.  Some may have pet companions.

Church Basketball Challenge

Several churches in the area are coming together for a basketball tournament on March 25 from 9am-5pm hosted at Tabernacle Baptist Church in partnership with Tanner.  30 people from SoHills can participate and must register by March 12.  Want to participate and represent SoHills?  Click here.

THS Emergency Shelter Fall Fundraiser

THS Emergency Shelter (THSES) continues to serve the homeless and others also in need of food, clothing, spiritual support, and temporary shelter. Financial donations are needed to assist in securing a permanent location to shelter the homeless. Checks may be made out to THSES and sent to the address below. 

Donations of food, clothing, tents, backpacks, and personal hygiene items are always appreciated.
